In a recent development, Kia picked Continental tires designed specifically to handle the needs of EVs. The tires in question are the CrossContact RX and the PremiumContact 6. They’ll come as original equipment on the Kia EV6.
Kia EV6 owners will also get the opportunity to choose other premium Continental tires as replacements. These are available for all seasons, summer, and winter. For example, the AllSeasonContact is a test-winning tire that acts as a good replacement.
The PremiumContact 6 is made to maximize safety and comfortable driving. It offers low rolling resistance that also helps to improve range.
Continental used a special tread compound to optimize it for wet-road braking performance. Its design ensures there’s maximum lateral force transmission and cornering stability. The tire has already earned the EU’s Label A for wet grip.
On the other hand, the CrossContact RX is a crossover performance tire that maximizes handling and braking especially in rough terrain. Its tread pattern helps to protect against stone and rock damage. The sidewalls are built for precise and highly responsive steering.
Both tires chosen for the Kia EV6 come with ContiSilent technology. This helps to reduce sound components of rolling noise by up to 9 dB. The feature is available for all rims and does not compromise durability, mileage, top speed, or performance.
During winter, Continental Tire recommends that Kia EV6 owners opt for the WinterContact TS 850 P. Its longitudinal stipes and numerous tread blocks improve traction and shorter braking distances on snow.
The AllSeasonContact is also available for all seasons. It comes with various resins and high-silica compounds that make it a great option for both wintry and wet conditions. It not only offers low resistance in high degree summer but also good grip on wet, cold, and snow-covered roads.
