Kia Niro To Feature Continental Tires

The Kia Niro is available in three versions – fully electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid. Continental Tire will supply the EcoContact 6 Q, PremiumContanct 6, and ProContact RX tires for these models respectively.

The 17-inch EcoContact 6 Q will be available in the fully electric Niro model for the European, Middle Eastern, and African markets. The hybrid-electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions will feature the 18-inch PremiumContact 6 tire.

Buyers in the USA and Korea get to choose the 18-inch ProContact RX as an all-season tire for the HEV and PHEV. The EcoContact 6 Q comes with longer service life, excellent energy efficiency, and improved braking performance. It has a tread profile that adapts to the road surface and specialized rubber that reduces friction.

This allows it to absorb less energy and reduce rolling resistance. Noise levels are also optimized thanks to a modified sipe, block, and lateral groove design. On the other hand, the PremiumContanct 6 boasts a special rubber compound in the tread to optimize a high level of grip, safety, and wet braking performance.

Its design enhances high cornering stability and ensures high lateral force transmission. The tire also features circumferential grooves that improve steering response and rapid handling in different conditions.

Lastly, the ProContact RX is designed to provide all-season capability and deliver excellent traction and braking performance all year.

Vehicles in the EMEA region will be fitted with the EcoContact 6 Q in size 215/55 R17 94V, and the PremiumContact 6 in size 225/45 R18 95V XL FR. The USA and Korean markets will be provided with a ProContact RX in size 225/45 R18 95V XL FR.
