Continental Makes Its New General Tire Available in Australia

Consumers in Australia can now purchase the General Tire Grabber HT6 after Continental Tire announced its availability. The official launch leverages the brand’s reputation for offering robust General tires in its off-road category.

It offers SUV owners a solution fit for the highway alongside other passenger tires. The tire boasts outstanding braking and control. It also offers protection from damage, prolonged lifespan, and indicators that provide visual feedback on tread depth and alignment.

“We’re excited to officially launch the General Tire Grabber HT6 in Australia. Designed with comfort and durability in mind, the tire is a terrific addition to the existing range and offers innovative design features to Australia’s SUV owners,” Continental Tyres managing director Mitchell Golledge says.

Some of the new comfort features include closed shoulders on each side of the tire that improve comfortability and uniform block geometry that boasts low stiffness variation and continuous sipes on tread blocks to reduce noise levels.

According to Continental, drivers can now use visual monitor technology to ‘read’ their tires. This allows them to check the alignment and even wear within the first 1,000km. The Visual Alignment Indicator includes sun and rain cloud symbols on the tire tread.

Once the tire tread reaches 3mm, the rain cloud indicator disappears to show that the Grabber HT6 is no longer fit for driving on wet roads. The sun icon disappears before the tread drops to the minimum legal tread depth of 1.6 mm.

The Grabber HT6 stands out thanks to its toughness and longevity. It has stone ejectors that resist gravel and tiny stones that would otherwise stick on the tread. The ejectors push them out from the grooves.

The tire also boasts several adjacent sipes made to improve braking on wet roads. These effectively push and drain water from the grooves and help to maintain a high contact area between the road surface and the tire.

The Grabber HT6 is available in 28 tire sizes at all major tire retailers in Australia and will cater to several SUVs on the market including:

  • Jeep Cherokee
  • Honda CR-V
  • Land Rover Discovery Sport
  • Volkswagen Touareg
  • Mercedes Benz GLC/GLB
  • Range Rover
  • Toyota RAV4
  • Nissan X-Trail
  • Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Mazda CX-30
  • Toyota CH-R
