Falken Tires has launched the Azenis FK460 A/S Silent Core, an ultra-high performance (UHP) all-season tire specifically designed for electric vehicles (EVs). As a subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber Industries from Japan, Falken incorporated its innovative Silent Core technology to address the unique needs of EVs.
This includes the reduction of tire cavity noise, achieved by placing a foam insert on the inner side of the tire tread. Engineers utilized tire noise simulation to ensure the tire’s quiet operation.
Developed with Falken’s “Advanced 4D Nano Technology,” the FK460 A/S Silent Core offers a rubber compound that strikes a balance between performance, traction, and tread longevity. The tire retains the original FK460’s tread design, which includes grooves and interlocking sipes that enhance stability in challenging weather conditions while also reducing air channeling noise.
Falken engineered this tire to complement a variety of EV models, such as the Audi E-Tron S, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, Genesis GV60 and GV70, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Lucid Air, Mercedes-Benz EQS (sedan and SUV), Nissan Ariya, Polestar 2, and Tesla Models 3, S, X, and Y.
The Azenis FK460 A/S Silent Core will initially be offered in 16 different sizes, with rim diameters ranging from 18 to 22 inches. It includes a 50,000-mile limited tread life warranty along with Falken’s Road Hazard Protection.
