As Labor Day approaches, Ironman Tires, a renowned name in the tire industry, underscores the importance of tire safety, emphasizing that the journey is as crucial as the destination. The company stresses that many tire-related issues can be avoided with proper care.
With travel plans on the rise for about 75% of Americans, tire safety becomes paramount as vehicles hit the road for the holiday. Ironman Tires urges motorists to prioritize tire maintenance with several key recommendations.
Firstly, proper tire inflation is essential for vehicle performance and safety. Drivers are advised to inflate their tires according to the pressure indicated on the vehicle’s placard, ensuring optimal performance tailored to the specific vehicle and tire combination. Checking tire pressure when the tires are cold, after the vehicle has been stationary for at least three hours, is crucial. It is also important to ensure valve caps are securely in place and replace any missing caps to prevent air loss.
Regular tire rotation is another critical practice for even wear and extended tire life. Ironman Tires recommends rotating tires approximately every 5,000 to 8,000 miles. If uneven wear is detected, it is advisable to consult a tire dealer to address potential misalignment, imbalance, or other mechanical issues before rotating the tires.
Maintaining proper alignment is vital, as a jolt from hitting a pothole or curb can disrupt alignment and damage tires, leading to uneven and accelerated tread wear. Periodic alignment checks, as outlined in the vehicle owner’s manual, are recommended, especially if drivers experience pulling sensations or vibrations while driving.
Additionally, avoiding overloading the vehicle is crucial for tire longevity and safety. Motorists should refer to their vehicle’s owner’s manual to ensure they adhere to the maximum load capacity.
Ironman Tires remains committed to promoting safe travel, and by following these essential tire care tips, drivers can ensure a safer and more enjoyable Labor Day experience. The company aims to assist travelers in reaching their destinations safely and with peace of mind.
