Continental and Samsara Announce Integration of Tire Management Solution

Continental’s ContiConnect tire management system is now integrated with the Samsara trailer management platform, the companies revealed on Sunday at the ATA Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting in Nashville. This new partnership comes in response to customer demand for a more unified fleet management solution that integrates tire management data with other trailer fleet information.

Both companies explained that the collaboration was designed to offer a comprehensive solution for fleet managers by merging tire monitoring with existing fleet management tools, enabling them to manage all aspects of their fleet through one platform. As part of the integration, the two companies will exchange valuable data, such as tire pressure, mileage, and other sensor data from Continental’s ContiConnect system, providing fleet operators with an extensive array of trailer data.

This new integration aims to enhance safety, streamline productivity, and optimize maintenance schedules. It also helps improve trailer allocation and planning, all while providing fleet managers with greater visibility into their assets.

The collaboration offers fleets a detailed view of their tire conditions, helping to identify tire issues early on. This feature ensures that fleet managers have access to vehicle details and maintenance history, along with real-time notifications for any tire-related problems. The integration also allows fleet managers and drivers to receive immediate alerts on tire pressure, leaks, or temperature issues directly within the Samsara dashboard, which can prompt swift corrective action. For more detailed diagnostics and analysis, users can easily transition to the ContiConnect platform.

The companies emphasized that the integration supports predictive tire maintenance, helping to prevent costly repairs by identifying issues such as tire pressure loss or excessive wear due to high temperatures. By catching potential problems early, fleets can reduce the likelihood of unscheduled downtime, thus keeping operations running smoothly.

Clarisa Doval, head of digital solutions at Continental Tires, commented that the integration provides a comprehensive, user-friendly solution, offering fleet operators insights into trailer and tire status from a single interface. She added that maintaining tire health is crucial for fleet safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness, ensuring fleets are well-prepared for future challenges.

The integration is made possible through Continental’s third-party integration capabilities and Samsara’s open API, which allows seamless data exchange between the two platforms.

David Gal, vice president of product and engineering at Samsara, noted that the integration strengthens the company’s position as a leading connected operations platform. By combining tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) data with broader fleet and operational insights, the unified platform provides fleets with the tools to maximize uptime and drive greater efficiency.
