Continental has received original equipment approval from General Motors (GM) for its CrossContact RX tire. This tire will equip the new Cadillac OPTIQ and Chevrolet Equinox EV. Both electric SUVs will use the all-weather touring tire in 20- and 21-inch sizes.
Designed for modern EVs, the CrossContact RX provides a quiet, comfortable ride with excellent braking performance and low rolling resistance, which is essential for maximizing electric driving range. Its specially designed tread pattern ensures reliable traction in dry, wet, and snowy conditions, including light off-road use and moderate snowfall.
The Continental tire also includes the ContiSeal technology. This feature automatically seals punctures up to 6 mm in diameter, allowing drivers to continue their journey without needing an immediate tire replacement.
Approved sizes include:
- CrossContact RX, 275/40 R21 107H XL FR ContiSeal
- CrossContact RX, 245/50 R20 105H XL FR ContiSeal
With this approval, Continental strengthens its position as a key supplier to GM’s growing EV lineup. It combines safety, comfort, and efficiency in its tire technology.
