Cooper Tire Scoops Two Global 2019 GOOD DESIGN® Awards

Cooper Tire recently announced that it had scooped the 2019 GOOD DESIGN® award for its all-terrain Discoverer ATT™ tire designed for Asia and its mud tire, Evolution M/T™, which is made for North America. The two awards came courtesy of The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in partnership with the European Center for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The two Cooper tires were picked from over 900 entries that came from 50 countries.

The award recognizes the most cutting-edge technology and most innovative industrial, graphic and product designs from all over the world. It is one of the longest-standing and most prestigious design award programs we have today. The criteria used to pick winners includes looking at new technologies, materials, form, concepts, utility, construction, function, sensitivity to the environment and energy efficiency.

According to Andrea Berryman, the Director for Product Management for North America at Copper Tire, the award showcases Cooper’s dedication to improving its product designs. Products from Cooper give users the confidence needed to maneuver through dirt roads and mud.

The Evolution M/T, in particular, is a high-performing, extremely durable tire that is worth the recognition. It comes with large blocks that help alternate mud scoops. This helps the tire to dig into loose sand, sticky mud, wide tenches, and dirt. Its unique sidewalls have ‘climbers’ that grab and stick to rock, preventing rubbing, as the stone barrier ridges expel lodged stones and prevent cuts from sharp rocks.

The Discoverer ATT, on the other hand, provides a quiet ride on the road. It blends high-tech capabilities to offer excellent off-road performance. It also acts as an all-terrain tire and classic sport utility vehicle tire at the same time. Cooper included corrugated sipes and innovative grooves that reduce the noise from the road. Extra features also allow it to eject gravel and stones.
