Cooper Tire Releases New Roadmaster RM258 WD Winter Drive Tire

Cooper Tire recently revealed the Roadmaster RM258 WD, a new tire under its Roadmaster brand.

It’s three-peak mountain certified and comes with four rows of lugs and open shoulder design. The certification is thanks to its chevron grooves and shoulder notches that increase bite in winter. The tire is built for regional applications and is available in sizes 11R24.5 and 11R22.5 with load range H.

Speaking at the launch, Gary Schroeder, the executive director of Global Truck and Bus Tire Business for Cooper Tire said that the new Roadmaster RM258 WD is centered on traction. It’s the best performer in adverse conditions such as snow.

It comes with curb guards, a new tread design, and enhanced compounds that ensure the tire can perform exceptionally well in towns, interstates, and when hitting the curbs. Where an ordinary tire would slide and slip on snow, the new RM258 WD bites to give maximum traction.

The RM258 WD can connect closely to the road thanks to 26/32nds, a deep tread, and full-depth 3D siping in the lugs. The tread maintains its form thanks to tie bars that are located in the shoulders to prevent the tread from squirming. This also helps to maintain uniform wear. Stone ejectors are located in the tread grooves to keep rocks from damaging the casing.

At the core of the new Roadmaster RM258 WD is a four steel belt construction which provides for several retreads. The tire is available with a 6-year, two-retread warranty.
