In a recent announcement, Cooper Tire said that it had been picked by Mercedes-Benz to supply original equipment tires for the new GLS SUV.
The tire in question is the Cooper Discoverer SRXLE which is a premium all-season tire built for CUVs and SUVs. It has already been acknowledged for its quality, workmanship, superior innovation, and technical achievement. The Discoverer SRXLE will be supplied in sizes 275/50R20 and 275/55R19 for the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
According to Glenn Arbaugh, the Executive Director, Global Light Vehicle OE Business & Strategy for Cooper Tire, this is the second vehicle from Mercedes-Benz released in the last 18 months to have Cooper tires as original equipment. The first model was the Mercedes-Benz GLE.
Cooper is proud to be working with a company like Mercedes which is known for its high-performance and luxurious cars. The Cooper Discoverer SRXLE is manufactured in the United States at the company’s Tupelo Mississippi facility.
It comes with improved performance construction to ensure maximum stability when maneuvering, smooth and comfortable rides as well as maximum steering response. It provides confidence in car control thanks to its revolutionary edge tread technology. This delivers maximum traction in all types of weather conditions and helps to improve fuel economy.
To improve stability and handling, Cooper Tire included its trademark technologies dubbed Micro-Gauge Siping and Aqua Vac Channels. These provide wide grooves that increase resistance to prevent hydroplaning. They also give the car more grip and control under harsh weather.
In addition, the Discoverer SRXLE sized 275/55R19 has all the global requirements needed to carry the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMS) mark. This proves that the tire can perform exceptionally well in winter driving.
