Hankook Partners With Junk King and Revvo on Smart Tire Pilot Program

In a recent announcement, Hankook Tire is partnering with Revvo Technologies, an advanced smart tire technology and predictive data analytics company based in Silicon Valley and Junk King, an Eco-friendly junk removal and hauling company based in North America to take smart tires to the next level.

Hankook will integrate its SmartFlex tires with advanced data analytics and tire technology from Revvo to provide important tire-specific data for 30 percent of Junk King’s vehicles. The vehicles are part of a large fleet based in California that requires high levels of operational efficiency, vehicle uptime, and safety.

Hankook understands that tires play an important role in meeting these requirements. As such, the company is researching innovative new ways of improving its bus and truck tire products. The pilot program will feature the tire manufacturer’s TBR line of hybrid segment multi-purpose tires, SmartFex, which are designed for traction and fuel efficiency.

“Ensuring our trucks stay in pristine shape is critical for our operations. It is the key to providing the top-notch customer service we promise to each and every one of our customers,” said Michael Andreacchi, CEO and co-founder of Junk King. “We’re excited to be at the forefront of this intelligent tire pilot program; having access to the tire data for our trucks is going to help us continue to stand out in the junk removal industry.”

Fleets have for a long time had the opportunity to use telematics and fleet management software. The one part in which they still had no visibility was tires. According to Hankook, Revvo plays an important role in filling that gap. The company’s advanced tire sensing platform uses a proprietary sensor fitted inside each tire to capture real-time data. The data is then processed and interpreted to provide information about predicted tread life, optimal tire maintenance settings and intervals, abnormal tire behavior, real-time alerts, and other actionable insights. When fitted into Hankook tires, the sensors will be of great help.

“At Hankook, we understand the need to combine great products with advancing technology to provide real-time solutions for our dealers and fleets, such as improved safety and reduction of downtime to increase fleet productivity,” says Rob Williams, vice president, Truck and Bus Radial Sales, Hankook Tire USA. “As we continue to advance our product innovation & technology, this is the next logical step to provide real-time data to fleets, which will be accomplished by working closely with our dealer network as these digital solutions continue to evolve.”

Revvo looks forward to meeting its main goal of helping operators stay safe on the road. According to the CEO Sunjay Dodani, the company is excited to collaborate with Hankook to give Junk King’s fleet the visibility they need into the usage of their tires. Seeing the technology prevent major accidents gives them confidence in their shared vision of smart and connected tires for all road vehicles.
