MINI and Hankook Release Winter Tires for JCW GP Model

The MINI JCW GP is the most powerful car MINI has ever made. The vehicle churns about 306 horsepower through its front wheels. As such, it’s only fair for its manufacturer to go for a special set of wheels and tires.

MINI and Hankook recently released a new set of winter tires for the JCW GP. The tires were developed for car owners that would like to drive their JCW GP during the colder months. The winter i*cept evo 2 tires are made using a bespoke compound. They come with an 87H XL rating and are sized 195/45 R18.

They are fitted on a different set of rims when compared to the standard set. They also boast a different design that incorporates asymmetric threads with specially shaped grooves and spies. This helps to optimize braking and traction on snowy roads.

The tires were specifically made for the JCW GP to make sure they comply with the car’s suspension technology. The latter is tuned to match the remarkable engine performance. The suspension comes with tuned control systems that work well with John Cooper Works’ racing expertise. Traction is optimized from the word go as well as stability when maneuvering corners fast. The team also took the braking performance into account.

Winter driving is not just about driving on snow. Sometimes, drivers encounter wet surfaces. As such, they need a capable set of tires that can do the job. The Winter i*cept evo 2 tires from Hankook were designed to perform their best in the MINI JCW GP. For such a fitment, the tire manufacturer had to ensure that the Hankook tires were up to the task.

They work best in combination with a four-piston fixed-caliper design which you’ll find on the rotors fitted on the MINI. The car is a limited edition and we can’t wait to see how many customers get to drive it on snow.
