Manchester City and Nexen Tire have teamed up to launch a new virtual fitness competition.
Nexen Tire America, a global champion in high-performance passenger, SUV/light truck, and winter tire technology are collaborating with Manchester City to launch a new virtual fitness competition dubbed “Nexen Road to Man City” to promote fans’ health and well-being worldwide and help them remain linked to the club. Through the initiative, Nexen Tire aims to bring fans closer to the club.
The free virtual race began on April 22, 2021, and invites individuals of different ages and fitness levels to join for 45 days to exercise and follow a healthy lifestyle. The fans will have an excellent opportunity to win exciting prizes by participating in the free virtual race.
All the participants are encouraged to walk, jog, or run to accumulate steps and track their progress using the Stepathlon software on their smartphone or any compatible device. All players will race virtually across the world, competing with other fans for the opportunity to win hundreds of prizes and money-can’t-buy experiences. Nexen Tire aims to get fans closer to the club through weekly competitions and contests on the @NexenRoadToManCity social media channels to inspire and move supporters.
Peter Laundy, Manchester City’s vice-president of relationship marketing and art, stated that connecting with fans worldwide has never been more crucial. In the last year, the club had continued to offer its fans unique and compelling opportunities to engage from wherever they are in the world. The ‘Nexen Road to Man City,’ he said, is a highly thrilling activity for fans and sports lovers alike that helps them to remain close to all the action while enhancing their health and fitness. Manchester City’s vice-president hoped that fans around the world could get involved.
The Nexen Road to Man City is the club’s second virtual race, but it is the first worldwide. Thousands of Indian participants and fans attended the first event of its kind which was considered highly successful. Stepathlon, the Race Management Software, will power the virtual race.
Travis Kang, the global CEO of Nexen Tire, said, “Nexen tire is delighted to be part of this truly global effort initiative to keep fans healthy, safe, and active. The event, organized with Man City, is in line with our new brand slogan ‘We Got You,’ i.e., becoming more valuable and the efficient brand for customers anywhere, anytime. Travis revealed that he looked forward to having everyone participate in this virtual event that also passes through Seoul, Nexen Tire’s home, and he hopes that it would be a source of fun for everyone.
