Toyo Tire USA Hires New President and CEO

In a recent announcement, Toyo Tire USA has appointed John Thomas as the new president and chief executive officer. Thomas comes with more than 30 years of experience in the automotive space. He has extensive knowledge when it comes to the OEM and aftermarket landscapes in North America. He last served as the president and CEO of Webasto Charging Systems, a company that is based in Monrovia, CA and operates in a completely different sector in the industry.

Thomas will work under the chairman of the Toyo Tire USA board, Tatsuo Mitsuhata. Mitsuhata is based at the company’s global headquarters in Japan where he is also the director and corporate office of Toyo Tire Corporations and Vice President of sales.

“I am pleased to welcome John Thomas as the president and CEO of Toyo Tires in America,” commented Mitsuhata. “With his experience in leading dynamic, growing companies as well as his experience in EV, I am confident John is the right person for this critical role in our most significant market. He will continue our aggressive USA growth plans while maintaining the culture within the company and the commitment to our tire dealers that make Toyo Tires so special.”

Thomas will oversee different departments at Toyo Tires including sales, marketing, planning, pricing, finance, technical services, and product planning.

“I am thrilled to join the elite team at Toyo Tires and drive further advancements of our core business, culture, customer service, and industry reputation,” said Thomas. “Toyo Tires has created a strong brand that enables us and our partners to uniquely position ourselves in the market. My commitment is to build on this tradition of excellence, bringing innovative solutions that ultimately set our channel partners and the Toyo Tires team on a course of continued growth and success.”

Thomas takes over from Roy Bromfield who is expected to retire this July after working with Toyo Tire for nine years. Bromfield has over 37 years of experience in the tire industry and will continue to serve as an advisor to the company until the end of 2021. His insights have helped the tire manufacturer produce better Toyo tires for years.
