Kumho Tire is set to supply original equipment tires for the popular Kia EV6. The EV has been well-received in Europe and North America. It will ride on Kumho’s noise-reducing tires that are gaining prominence in the global EV market.
The tire manufacturer began making EV tires early. It launched its first product in 2013 called Wattrun after just 2 years of Research and Development. This was Korea’s first tire exclusively made for electric vehicles.
The Kia EV6 will ride on the all-season Ecsta PS71 (standard: 235/55R 19) and the Crugen HP71. Both Kumho tires feature the proprietary K-Silent sound absorption technology.
The technology improves the quality and shapes of sound-absorbing materials to reduce resonance sounds from the tires. The K-Silent system debuted in 2014. The quality and shapes of the sound-absorbing materials are already patented.
