Yokohama Releases New Trailer and Refuse Tires

Yokohama recently showcased its latest products at the 2023 Technology & Maintenance Council meeting held in Orlando. The three main tires featured include:

  • 114R: A standard trailer tire designed for spread-axle trailers
  • 716U: An ultra-wide-base tire for the waste industry
  • 121T: An all-season regional trailer tire

114R Tire for Spread-Axle Trailers

The Yokohama 114R is made for owner and fleet operators that need to extend tire life in spread-axle and regional haul operations.

It features circular should ribs built to minimize scrubbing that causes curb damage. The compound can resist tread chipping and cutting when dragging or pivoting during cornering. This is while maintaining fuel efficiency.

The tread depth is also optimized for long service while the sturdy rib design ensures there’s excellent tracking with less tread wear. Funnel-shaped step grooves have been incorporated to prevent damage from stones.

Buyers can get the 114R in six different sizes which include: 11R22.5, 295/75R22.5, 285/75R24.5, 11R24.5, 255/70R22.5 and 275/70R22.5.

716U Ultra-Wide Single

The Yokohama 716U is built especially for recycling, waste, and on/off-road service operations. This is important where maximizing payload capacity is prioritized.

According to the company’s senior manager of commercial product planning Tom Clauer, using four 716Us instead of eight standard 315 80R 22.5 Yokohama tires can save fleet owners about 700 pounds.

The tires are a bit heavier than those made by other brands due to the retreadable casings. Yokohama included five steel belts, with one being a zero-degree belt.

Buyers can get the 716U in size 445/55R22.5.

121T All-Season Regional Tire

The Yokohama 121T is a trailer tire that was introduced last year. It’s designed to perform in all weather conditions. Those looking to buy it can get it in sizes 245/75R17.5, 235/75R17.5, and 215/75R17.5.
