Yokohama To Denote EV Tires with an E+ Mark

Yokohama Tire recently announced that it will start adding the E+ mark on the sidewall of its passenger car, truck, and bus tires to indicate that they meet the requirements set by EVs.

This will happen beginning of the second half of 2023. The first Yokohama tires to receive the E+ mark will be the Advan Sport EV. This is a summer tire that will be launched in Europe in autumn of 2023. It is designed to meet ultra-high performance requirements.

Electric vehicles are generally heavier than their gas-powered counterparts. As such, tires must be able to handle the weight and torque. This is while minimizing road noise, which is usually the most predominant noise. The tires must also meet electrical efficiency targets and extend the vehicle’s range.

Currently, Yokohama is the official tire supplier for the Mercedes-AMG 53 4MATIC+, the Lexus RZ, Subaru Solterra, some SUVs from Toyota Motor, and the BMW iX3.
