Michelin is the current sponsor and original equipment supplier for the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Cup. The competition previously ran on BFGoodrich tires that were still supplied by Michelin.
All vehicles will be riding on a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport Competition 20/61-17. The Cup joins other IMSA-sanctioned series such as the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Michelin uses the opportunity to work with motorsports championships as a way to develop and improve its technologies in different types of cars, conditions, and circuits. The tire manufacturer has more than 26 consecutive wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans under its belt.
It continues to challenge itself and make consistent improvements. It is currently the official tire supplier for IMSA and a technical partner to several leading car makers. Â According to the Mazda Motorsports Senior Program Manager, Jonathan Applegate, the high-quality Michelin tires are exactly what Mazda drivers need.
The MX-5 Cup will debut on 24th January at Daytona International Speedway. The first race will take place on 25th January at 4:15 pm ET while the second race will take place at 10:15 a.m. the next day. Both races will stream live on IMSA.com/TVLive.
