Kumho Tire has secured a significant role in Volkswagen’s latest vehicle release by supplying its ECSTA HS52 tires as original equipment (OE) for the seventh-generation Multivan, known as the Multivan T7. The Kumho tires, available in sizes 235/55R17 and 235/50R18, represent a key milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Kumho Tire and Volkswagen.
Volkswagen’s Multivan, a model with a production history dating back to 1949, has been a mainstay in the automaker’s lineup. The newest version, the Multivan T7, is built on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, which is renowned for its adaptability. This modular platform is designed for vehicles with a transverse engine layout and integrates contemporary features, such as a digital instrument cluster and wireless charging capabilities.
The ECSTA HS52 tires are engineered to deliver a smooth and safe driving experience. Their solid block tread pattern is designed to maintain consistent road friction pressure, minimizing impact and noise while enhancing ride comfort. These qualities have earned the ECSTA HS52 high rankings in various performance assessments. Earlier this year, Germany’s “ADAC” magazine placed the tire third in summer tire performance tests, while “Auto Bild” ranked it fourth overall, making it the top-rated tire among domestic brands.
Kim In-soo, Executive Vice President of OE Sales at Kumho Tire, underscored the significance of this supply agreement. He noted that the supply of Kumho tires for the Multivan T7 is particularly meaningful as it is being provided for one of Volkswagen’s most iconic vehicles. He emphasized that the collaboration with Volkswagen, which also includes supplying tires for the Taos, Jetta, and ID.4, is a testament to Kumho Tire’s recognized technology and quality.
Kumho Tire’s partnership with Volkswagen is part of a larger strategy aimed at expanding its presence in the global automotive market. The company has been increasingly focused on supplying original equipment tires for flagship electric vehicle models from major automakers, highlighting its advanced product technology and premium brand value.
