Goodyear has unveiled its new Cooper Work Series Regional Haul All-Position (RHA) 2 tire, designed specifically for use in super-regional and regional all-position commercial vehicle applications.
The tire has been verified by SmartWay, a program trademarked by the US Environmental Protection Agency, and is aimed at providing long-lasting durability and uniform wear for the growing super-regional commercial vehicle market.
Joe Burke, the Vice President of North America Commercial at Goodyear, explained that the super-regional category is changing, with shorter routes now connecting shipping hubs. These routes are also focused on improving efficiency by bringing vehicles closer to last-mile delivery operations. He emphasized that the new Cooper Work Series RHA 2 tire is tailored to meet these requirements by combining a long-haul tread with a scrub guard compound, making it durable enough for both long-distance travel and urban traffic.
The Cooper Work Series RHA 2 incorporates a balanced long-haul and regional tread compound, along with a scrub guard compound that helps resist wear in high-scrub conditions typical of super-regional and regional uses. It features a five-rib tread design, a broad footprint, and a solid shoulder to ensure even wear and long mileage. Additionally, the tire is equipped with stone protector ledges to reduce stone retention and safeguard the casing from penetration, making it suitable for retreading. It also includes the Cooper Wear Square indicator, which provides an easy way to estimate the remaining tread life on each tire.
This new addition to the Cooper tires lineup joins the brand’s other commercial truck tire lines, including the Severe Series and the Pro Series.
