Pirelli Unveils FSC-Certified Scorpion XC RC and M Mountain Bike Tyres, Made in Italy

Pirelli launched the Scorpion XC RC and XC M, its first mountain bike tyres that are fully produced in Italy and formulated with FSCâ„¢-certified natural rubber. Manufactured at the Milan-Bollate factory, the new tyre models represent a breakthrough in sustainable performance production for off-road riding.

Designed for high-level cross-country competition—including Short Track, Olympic, and Marathon formats—the Scorpion XC RC and M are built for both elite racing and versatile trail use. Both models feature Pirelli’s new RACE Compound, developed by its Motorsport Compound division, offering top-tier chemical grip even in wet conditions, improved tear resistance, and reduced rolling resistance.

Internal testing conducted by Pirelli discovered that the Scorpion XC RC lowers rolling resistance by 7% from its successor thanks to a new tread pattern and a more squared profile on the shoulder knobs. This new design enhances cornering grip, braking response, and overall handling, making it a sure bet for aggressive, technical riding.

The XC M version, aimed at speedy marathon trails and light trail riding, has also been completely reengineered. It is 9% more rolling-efficient and 12% lighter than the previous version. The tire performs best on loose ground and light mud, with traction and stability from its open tread pattern and tight central blocks.

The two Pirelli tires are available in 29×2.4 true volume for 30c rims, and both include two casing styles: the lightweight LITE and the protective ProWALL. The ProWALL tire now comes with a new texture pattern to provide better sidewall protection and stability, even at lower tire pressures.

Scorpion XC RC and M tires are available in Silver and Team Edition graphics and sell at high-end bike shops and online. With this launch, Pirelli affirms its dedication to performance and sustainability for mountain biking.
